2019 Golf Outing

University of Michigan Golf Course
Ann Arbor, MI

Swing to Cure Diabetes was founded by former University of Michigan football player and Varnum attorney Rich Hewlett and his wife, Chris. The couple began raising money and awareness for juvenile diabetes research after their son, Jeffrey, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes 20 years ago.

The annual golf outing is attended by many of Rich's Wolverine teammates and coaches, including U of M head coaches Jim Harbaugh, Gary Moeller and Lloyd Carr.

 A Few Words From Jeffrey...
Ever since I was 4 years old, I have had diabetes. I donít remember what life was like without diabetes. I wake up every day and the first thing I do is poke my finger.  Then after that, I take a shot to cover everything I have eaten. This is the routine I do before every meal, everyday. Even during school, I leave class 5 minutes early to test and give myself a shot before lunch. Diabetes has never slowed me down.

I just want to let you know how much I appreciate your help. I enjoy playing golf and am very excited about the Swing to Cure Diabetes golf outing. I hope to see you there!
